3 Positions Pique My Interest

Nurse Practitioner at AJH: This job is especially interesting to me. I desire a job that requires helping people one on one. It is very rewarding diagnosing and treating medical problems as well as helping restore patients health. Human Relations Intake Coordinator at Government of Philadelphia: This job piques my interest due to making appointments and relating with people one on one. I love assisting people and interacting with them. I enjoy writing reports and finding solutions to problems. Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Philadephia Inquirer: I think proactively about different scenarios. I am a detailed person and enjoy investigating situations. It would be exciting to deal with emergencies and implement protocol if an emergency arises.

Three Project Proposals

Hello, Bloggers! Project #1:   Pediatric Nurse at Clear Water Medical Center Over the past year, the medical field has been on my radar-- specifically nursing. Echo Stone, a Pediatric Nurse, is a young BSN grad and has worked at Clearwater Medical Center for nine months. I chose a Pediatric Nurse since I love children and would want to specialize in that field if I pursue nursing. Echo cares for patients ranging from 0-19 years old. She is fresh out of nursing school and I want to hear about her early experiences in this field. Project #2:    Student Counselor Counseling is a job that piques my curiosity and interests me. Betty Rivers has a masters in Psychology and is a student counselor who works with kids on their emotional, social, and behavioral development. Betty works for Grand Willow which is a non-profit organization and counsels at the comprehensive therapeutic school, Riverdale High. Her job seems especially interesting as she is worki...

Annotations!

Today, I gained several insights from my classmates' annotations. I learned from them that it is important to connect with the author. It is helpful to mark the statements I agree with AND the ones I disagree with. Why? Because it is important to critique and celebrate the author. I also learned summarizing the whole article at the end can be effective because it provides greater comprehension and retention. Some classmates performed similar annotations to me such as marking words that are unfamiliar, as well as highlighting, underlining, and using symbols to show expression.     Annotating texts is valuable and useful in various ways. Firstly, it reshapes one's thinking. It makes the mind more analytical, detailed, and able to reason for itself. Further, it causes one to "put on their thinking cap" and practice deep critical thinking. It invites the reader to provide insights by encouraging one to have opinions, ask questions, argue, and highli...

A little bit about me...

Hi, my name is Alyssa Meuleners!    Ever since I was five and went to England for my first overseas trip, I have been eager to travel and see the world. I have been on 14 different planes this year, and I will have gone to Turkey three different times in the past eight months at the end of the year. This spring semester I went to a school called YWAM, which is a Christian school and lived in Kona, Hawaii for three months and then moved to Turkey for two months to do mission work.     It is the little things in life that bring me joy. Coffee and my dog are a couple of my favorite things. I am not your stereotypical white girl who orders her caramel frap, but a true hardcore coffee drinker who prefers it black. I consider myself a morning person after I have had my cup of Joe.     I enjoy staying active by hiking, running, or biking. In my spare time, I love playing the piano. I have played for around nine years starting ...
