Annotations!
Today, I gained several insights from my classmates' annotations. I learned from them that it is important to connect with the author. It is helpful to mark the statements I agree with AND the ones I disagree with. Why? Because it is important to critique and celebrate the author. I also learned summarizing the whole article at the end can be effective because it provides greater comprehension and retention. Some classmates performed similar annotations to me such as marking words that are unfamiliar, as well as highlighting, underlining, and using symbols to show expression.
Annotating texts is valuable and useful in various ways. Firstly, it reshapes one's thinking. It makes the mind more analytical, detailed, and able to reason for itself. Further, it causes one to "put on their thinking cap" and practice deep critical thinking. It invites the reader to provide insights by encouraging one to have opinions, ask questions, argue, and highlight important statements.
